On September 1, Denis Antoniuk, who had previously been dismissed from his post by the head of the Odessa Regional State Administration, Mikheil Saakashvili, was re-appointed head of the State Aviation Service.
According to State Aviation Service press secretary Natalia Terletskaya, the Cabinet of Ministers' order previously stated that Antonyuk would be suspended pending the investigation's completion. However, after two months, no tangible results from the investigation have been obtained, meaning there was essentially no basis for suspending Antonyuk.
As a reminder, he was "fired" on July 2 after Saakashvili gave the head of the State Aviation Service a dressing-down. According to the regional governor, Antonyuk was not above promoting and protecting monopolistic companies in the air travel market, which prevented new companies from entering the market.
It should also be noted that Antoniuk, according to Saakashvili, filed a lawsuit against him for one million hryvnia.
