Prosecutor General's Office head Viktor Shokin has ordered an investigation into a complaint filed by People's Front deputies regarding the origin of the funds used by Firtash and Lyovochkin to purchase the Inter television channel. MP Anton Gerashchenko told reporters this.
It is known that on March 30, members of parliament petitioned the Prosecutor General's Office to investigate the basis and funding for Firtash and Levochkin's $2,5 billion purchase of Inter TV channel shares in 2013. Anton Gerashchenko stated that, according to unconfirmed reports, the money was issued on the orders of Putin, who was already preparing to seize Ukraine.
Gerashchenko noted that Shokin instructed Pavlo Zhebrivsky, the head of one of the Prosecutor General's Office departments, to conduct an investigation into the parliamentary complaint. Thus, Gerashchenko notes, this will be a test for the Prosecutor General's Office and for Ukrainian society as a whole. If Firtash, Khoroshkovsky, Levochkin, and those involved in such operations are questioned, and information about the funds used to conduct these transactions and purchases is clarified and presented to the public, then the Prosecutor General's Office will pass this test.
As a reminder, in early February 2015 it was reported that 100% of the Inter TV channel’s shares were fully controlled and managed by companies owned by Dmitry Firtash (majority stake) and Sergey Levochkin (minority stake).
