The Prosecutor General's Office has opened a criminal investigation into the illegal seizure of property belonging to Slavutich Hotel OJSC by unidentified officials of Stalkon M. The criminal investigation was opened on April 2, 2014, according to Glavkom, citing the Unified Register of Court Decisions.
It is known that in late winter 2015, Stalkon M, through a shell company, attempted to have criminal proceedings dismissed. A lawsuit against the Prosecutor General's Office seeking to close the investigation against Stalkon M was filed by Rey Plus LLC. The company substantiated its claims by claiming it was the direct owner of documents and property seized by law enforcement during searches related to the criminal case, which took place in November 2014.
Rey Plus claimed that the criminal case files contained no documents indicating the illegal alienation of property belonging to Slavutich Hotel OJSC, and therefore there were no grounds to allege that Stalkon-M had illegally acquired the hotel's assets. In March of this year, the Kyiv Court of Appeals denied Rey Plus's request to dismiss the criminal case.
As is known, those responsible for the raid on the Slavutich Hotel are representatives of the "Luzhniki group" and Russian State Duma deputy Alexander Babakov. Oleksandra Kuzhel, a member of parliament from the Batkivshchyna faction, stated that former Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka previously represented Russian interests in Ukraine.
As a reminder, on January 20, 2012, approximately 100 security guards armed with shields, helmets, and bulletproof vests stormed the Slavutich Hotel. The hotel building was seized, all entrances and exits were blocked, and tenants were denied access to the property. All of this occurred in the direct presence of police, in close proximity to residential buildings, and in full view of hundreds of citizens. Hotel employees later held a press conference, citing the involvement of VS Energy CEO Mikhail Spektor, Babakov's "overseer" in Ukraine; VS Energy Vice President Valery Tarasyuk; Oleg Bolotov, General Manager of the Luzhniki Premier Hotels chain; VS Energy lawyer Alexander Simonchuk; and Arkady Permyakov, owner and director of Stalkon-M LLC.
