Grosyman offers Kobolev to return the 300 million bonus

Andrey Kobolev

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman reminded the leadership of the state concern Naftogaz of Ukraine under the leadership Andrey Kobolev about the failure of the gas production program and called for the return of the bonuses they had awarded themselves for winning the Stockholm arbitration.

"NAK failed to implement the 2020 gas production program approved by the government. They developed their own strategy ineffectively, and now there's a problem. But competition in the market (through tenders) will enable us to move forward quickly," Groysman said during a visit to Poltava Oblast.

"As for the NAK management, I have no discussions with them. They are a rather cynical monopolist, and I don't see eye to eye with them. I forced them to lower gas prices for households in May and in the coming months. They should continue this. I also propose that they return the bonuses—that would be fair. They're working for their own pockets, and that should be the end of it. Their responsibility is to ensure transit and increase fuel production," the prime minister added.

Groysman also called it the direct and undoubted duty of the gas monopoly's leadership to ensure gas transit to European consumers after 2020, as well as to increase its own gas production for the state's energy independence.
