Igor Guzhva reported details of the search at the VESTI newspaper office and expressed his suspicions about the reasons.
Here is the text of Igor Guzhva's message from his Facebook page:
Details of the SBU's seizure of the editorial office have emerged. In short, this is yet another case of fabricated criminal charges.
The goal is to block our work. In May, they tried to do this with the help of the tax authorities, but by now the case is close to collapse. It didn't work. In the summer, they tried to intimidate us by hiring thugs who terrorized and vandalized our editorial office. They didn't intimidate us. It didn't work.
Now the SBU has stepped in. The basis is Article 110, Part Two (encroachment on territorial integrity).
The SBU identified this attack in several articles published in the magazine "Reporter" (two in April, one in July). These articles were "The Makhnovist State," "The Slavic-Proletarian Republic," and "The Junta! Betrayed! Down with It!"
Naturally, our authors did not allow any encroachments on Ukraine's territorial integrity. These were standard reports "from the other side of the front line"—from Slovyansk, when Ponomarev and Strelkov-Girkin were in charge there, and from the captured regional administration buildings. There was, of course, direct speech from the separatists, just as it was (and is) in all Ukrainian media outlets that, for example, interviewed Pushilin or the Abwehr or spoke with ordinary supporters of the DPR/LPR.
If desired, any newspaper, radio station, or television channel could be slapped under this article. Therefore, this is merely a pretext to specifically target our holding company and block its activities, completely clearing the information space before the elections of any media outlets that aren't afraid to express an independent point of view.
But I'll say right away, you can't silence us. Regardless, we'll continue to produce the newspaper, the website, the radio, and the TV channel.
In his next message, Igor Guzhva claims that the reason was yesterday’s publication of an article entitled “"The daughter of the head of the SBU lives in an apartment in Manhattan?".
Since the site is not working, it provides a link to VESTEI's LiveJournal, where the article is also posted.
Here is its text:
Does the daughter of the head of the SBU live in an apartment in Manhattan?
The daughter of the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Valentina Nalyvaichenko, is listed as living in an apartment in a prestigious New York City neighborhood. She studied and worked in America and Europe. However, her father claims that Olya is currently in Ukraine.
The head of the SBU himself dislikes questions about his personal life, and no one has ever seen his family in public. According to the resume that 25-year-old Olga posted on LinkedIn (an international social network for professional contacts), she graduated with honors from the Institute of International Relations (KIMO) in 2010. She completed her master's degree at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and then earned a master's degree in law from Stockholm University (Sweden).
During her five years of study, the student completed internships and part-time work at law firms around the world. For example, she interned at the Fairfax County Court (USA), the Stockholm Arbitration Court (Sweden), a law firm in Frankfurt am Main (Germany), the UN Office in Vienna (Austria), and law firms in Rome (Italy) and Paris (France).
New York's so-called yellow pages are publicly available online. The directory lists Olga Nalyvaichenko's address and phone number. She owns an apartment in the city's most prestigious neighborhood, located in a building on Fifth Avenue. It's close to Manhattan, Central Park, and Madison Avenue. One-bedroom apartments start at $4200 per month, while three-bedroom apartments can reach $12,000 per month.
It's worth noting that Daria and Dana Nosenko are also listed at this address. This is the surname of the co-founder of Smile Holding Ukraine LLC, where Nalyvaichenko, according to his declaration, was listed as the head of a group of advisors before his election to the Verkhovna Rada.
Vesti contacted the head of the SBU for comment on this information. However, Nalyvaichenko denied the allegations of owning an apartment abroad. "Olga lives and works in Ukraine," the politician's press service told us. They also declined to specify her position or organization, citing personal security concerns.
