Igor Kolomoisky has found a partner in Russia to purchase the Odessa Port Plant.

Dmitry Mazepin, head of the Russian company Uralchem, and Igor Kolomoisky, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, may jointly acquire the Odessa Port Plant.

"It's important for Kolomoisky to control Odesa Port Plant, as he previously attempted to buy it. In his fight with Firtash, he could secure Mazepin's money," Izvestia quoted a source close to the Odesa Port Plant purchase negotiations as saying.

The source claims that Mazepin's funds will replenish a significant portion of Ukraine's state budget, making it unlikely that the Ukrainian authorities will reject such an investor despite sanctions against Russia. Businessman Dmitry Firtash is also reportedly interested in acquiring Odesa Port Plant.

The publication claims that for Mazepin, the Odesa Port Plant will provide the opportunity to transport products to Europe, while for Kolomoisky, the purchase of the plant is an opportunity to support his business with Russian finance.

This year, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to privatize a number of factories, including the Odesa Port Plant. In 2009, the Odesa Port Plant was purchased by Nortima, a company controlled by Kolomoisky. However, the State Property Fund did not recognize Nortima as the winner of the tender.

"The Odesa Port Plant is currently one of the most attractive assets. Ukrainian authorities intend to raise funds through its sale that could significantly reduce the budget deficit," the publication reports.
