Igor Uchitel: I'll buy votes for a refrigerator.

Igor Uchitel

The start of the election campaign is practically a holiday for Ukrainians. A month before the elections, many candidates for parliament in Ukraine are thinking about the people. But where do these politicians hide the rest of the time?

Ukrainian parliamentary candidate Igor Uchitel is no exception, going to any lengths to win. Journalists have repeatedly documented voter bribery in the 138th district of the Odesa region, and the candidate himself makes no secret of it, openly announcing his gifts. For example, in the lobby of RBC, Mr. Uchitel treated people to "delicious pastries"—incidentally, at his own expense, which is illegal during an election campaign. One kindergarten received a refrigerator as a gift, albeit an empty one. Librarians, thanks to Mr. Uchitel's "I'll buy your votes for bread and other trinkets" campaign, now have access to a printer and computer. A month of dolce vita from Uchitel: new windows for a kindergarten, an exercise machine for a school, and gas cylinders at a reduced price, which again violates many Ukrainian laws.

Voters, satisfied with their handouts, are everywhere "gossiping" about the merits of their "breadwinner," which is actually printed on the pages of the Lyubashevskaya regional newspaper "KHLIBOROB":

"Igor Leonidovich Uchitel not only provided the institution with financial assistance for the construction of an internal water supply system, but also organized all plumbing work. Igor Uchitel visited the classrooms and inquired about the institution's financial situation. As a result, he further extended his "financial assistance" by allocating funds for the purchase of kitchen equipment and new furniture for the cafeteria." Meanwhile, the Ivanovo regional newspaper "STEPOVY ZORI" reports: "On the eve of the heating season, the Radostnoye Children's Music School received eight heaters—a gift requested by its director, Natalya Vladimirovna Khainatsky." And the official website of the Berezovka regional newspaper "STEPOVY MAYAK" reports that Igor Uchitel gave the group's members a gift—a set of new stage costumes with Ukrainian motifs...

We're being assured on TV screens that the new government favors lustration and a parliament with honest people and true patriots of Ukraine. But Ihor Uchitel, the Petro Poroshenko Bloc candidate, is doing everything he can to secure a cozy seat in the Verkhovna Rada. Not a single case of voter bribery has been opened against the candidate, despite the fact that such information is simply pouring out from everywhere.

Beginning in September, Igor Uchitel has been talking in interviews about the accumulated problems in his district, which caught his attention a month before the elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine—apparently a coincidence.

Where was Mr. Uchitel before, when medical institutions in Gvozdavka needed gasification, when Chervonovladimirovka was without a gas pipeline.

But today, the Teacher's act of unparalleled kindness continues. Hurry to voice your request before the day of judgment—election day—less than a week remains. The menu now includes stage costumes, billiard and tennis tables, kitchen utensils, and much more. Hurry, otherwise, in just a week, the "Flying Dutchman" Teacher will disappear into parliament among other people's deputies and leave the 138th district until the next elections, once again reminding everyone of his good deeds.

The bribed population also deserves mention. The grateful "administrative resource," in exchange for spoons and oven mitts, will certainly donate their votes to the cause of virtue.

But on October 26th the honey will run out, Teacher, and what will remain is an empty barrel and tar, in the form of empty promises that someone will have to “clean up” for a long time.
