Inter reports an attempted corporate takeover of the TV channel.

InterOn the air of the TV program "Details" on the Inter channel, it was stated that the open criminal proceedings against their television channel are an attempt at corporate raiding.

As the Inter TV channel's press service stated, the reasons for the announced pre-trial investigation are absurd and unfounded, as the channel has proven itself to be a law-abiding enterprise throughout its entire history.

According to the press service, the pressure on the channel and its owners by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and People's Front deputies is nothing less than an attack on freedom of speech and independent media. Inter's press service also stated that such actions by law enforcement agencies and politicians are a direct path to harsh censorship and dictatorship, which poses a serious threat to freedom of speech and all independent media in Ukraine.

It was previously reported that the Main Investigative Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs opened a criminal investigation into offenses under Part 2 of Article 364 (abuse of power or official position) and Part 1 of Article 171 (obstruction of the lawful professional activities of journalists) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that in 1997 and 1999, certain officials of the State Property Fund of Ukraine, abusing their official position, transferred 20% of the shares of the Inter television channel to private ownership. As a result, the state lost over $800 million.

Let us recall that today the Inter TV channel belongs to Dmitry Firtash and Sergey Levochkin.
