More than 2 billion hryvnias were withdrawn from Prime Bank at the end of last year.
According to Kyiv's Pechersky District Court, the Ministry of Internal Affairs launched an investigation into the bank's management in February of this year. It was established that between July and September 2014, several companies transferred 2,052 billion hryvnias to individuals, with all the funds being disbursed through Prime Bank's cash desk without even opening accounts.
It's important to note that Prime Bank is associated with Maya Volkov, the wife of former Party of Regions member Alexander Volkov. Maya herself owned just over 5% of the shares, while the Volkovs' daughter, Alexandra, owned over 9%. It's unclear who owned the controlling stake.
It should also be noted that in October 2014, by decision of the NBU, Prime Bank was declared bankrupt and a temporary administration was introduced there.
