Rinat Akhmetov's energy holding company, DTEK, owes the Ukrainian energy market over 600 million hryvnias, resulting in problems with miners' wage payments. Specifically, over 100 million hryvnias in arrears have accumulated to mines in the Lviv region. Acting Chairman of the Lviv Region, Yuriy Turyanskyi, announced this on November 25, according to ZIK.
According to Turyansky, DTEK attributes the debt to difficulties the company encountered due to the mines in Donbass being seized by terrorists.
"But this issue is being resolved at the government level," Turyansky stated, adding that a compromise had been reached, and approximately 50 million hryvnias had already been allocated to pay wages to miners in the Lviv region.
Turyansky also reported that next year, Lviv region plans to increase coal production by launching two new longwalls at the Stepnaya mine and one at the Chervonogradska mine.
“If 5,5 thousand tons are currently mined per day in the Lviv region, then 7 thousand tons are planned for January, and 8 thousand tons in February,” he said.
As a result, Turyansky added, the burden on the state budget should be reduced by 100 million UAH, whereas currently 800 million UAH is spent annually from the state budget on subsidizing coal enterprises in the region.
