The Cabinet of Ministers and Naftogaz are suing Akhmetov's KyivEnergo for UAH 237 million in debt.

The national joint-stock company Naftogaz of Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry are suing the energy generating company Kyivenergo, controlled by businessman Rinat Akhmetov, to pay UAH 237 million for gas consumed.

This is stated in the decisions published in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
According to documents, two lawsuits against KyivEnergo for payment of debts for previously consumed natural gas are currently pending in the Supreme Commercial Court of Ukraine and the Kyiv Commercial Court. The first lawsuit seeks compensation in the amount of UAH 57,258 million, with a court hearing scheduled for September 22, 2014. The second lawsuit seeks compensation in the amount of UAH 179,646 million, with a hearing scheduled for October 2, 2014.
In addition, the Unified State Register of Court Decisions contains a number of other claims filed by Naftogaz against Kyivenergo for smaller amounts.
As DENGI-INFO reported, in the summer of 2013, Naftogaz sued the energy generating company Kyivenergo to pay UAH 422,7 million for previously consumed gas.
According to Naftogaz, Kyivenergo is one of the largest debtors in Ukraine for natural gas. Kyivenergo's current debt amounts to UAH 1,682 billion, resulting in some Kyiv consumers being without hot water for several months.
