The Uzhhorod prosecutor's office has a new leader: Ivan Zareva has been appointed to lead the regional capital's agency. This information was published by Zakarpattia Online, citing law enforcement sources.
Previously, Prokurorskaya Pravda reported that Zareva once managed to head the Uzhgorod prosecutor's office as acting head while former city prosecutor Volodymyr Gavrilyuk was on sick leave.
Ivan Zareva is a former inter-district prosecutor of Beregovo region, who, after the change of power in February 2014, failed to pass the lustration check, as noted in the conclusion of the Beregovo region's inter-district lustration committee.
Journalists also note that Ivan Shymon has been appointed Deputy Prosecutor of the Zakarpattia Oblast. In the race for the position, he managed to beat out another former Uzhhorod prosecutor, Ivan Shtefanyuk.
As a reminder, on January 5, Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin introduced the new head of the Zakarpattia Oblast Prosecutor's Office, Volodymyr Yanko, to the staff.
The Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine described his newly appointed subordinate as a leader who has gone through almost every stage of prosecutorial work.
In turn, Vladimir Yanko emphasized the main priorities of the prosecutor's office. These include "effective coordination of all law enforcement agencies in the fight against corruption, embezzlement of public funds, and the detection of land-related crimes." Another task is identifying and suppressing the activities of sabotage groups aimed at destabilizing the situation in the region.
Thus, with the appointment of Yanko, the struggle between several "prominent" prosecutors for the seat of the chief legal officer of the Transcarpathian region has temporarily ceased.
