Lyudmila Gaevaya
In order to access public information, the public organization "Rule of Law" requested income declarations from judges in the city of Odessa.
After analyzing the declarations, activists asked some judges to provide information about the sources of acquisition of the declared property.
One of such requests was sent to the judge of the Primorsky District Court of Odessa, Lyudmila Vadimovna Gaeva.
As the declaration shows, at first glance, she lives a rather modest life in a 44,3-square-meter apartment and drives a 1997 Jeep Cherokee. When not serving time in court, Lyudmila Vadimovna spends her time in a 132,9-square-meter country house.
More questions arise from the impressive size of the land plots belonging to Judge Gaeva.
Lyudmila Vadimovna refused to comment on the origin of her property.
However, the judge took the trouble to write a seven-page response, in which she outlined her negative attitude toward such requests.
Judge L.V. Gaevaya believes that the head of the public organization's board, V.I. Semenov, by submitting a request for information about its property, committed a crime under Article 383, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, for which he should be held criminally liable.
Moreover, according to the judge, the public organization, with its request, encroached on state power, humiliated the honor of all judges and damaged the authority of the judiciary.
Judge Gaevaya concluded that members of the public organization are closely connected to defendants in criminal cases being heard in the Primorsky District Court of Odessa, and that the public organization "Rule of Law," by sending its requests, is helping them avoid criminal punishment.
In the end, the judge advises renaming the public organization from "Rule of Law" to "Legal Lawlessness" ("Pravove svavillya").
We sincerely sympathize with those people whose cases are being heard by Judge L.V. Gaeva.
We present the response of Judge Lyudmila Vadimovna Gaeva of the Primorsky District Court of Odessa. We recommend reading it.
