Kakha Kukava, the head of the Georgian party "Free Georgia," made a sensational announcement. According to him, 49% of SOCAR Georgia shares are owned by the wife of former President Mikheil Saakashvili.
According to him, SOCAR is currently blackmailing Bidzina Ivanishvili, demanding that he transfer Roelofs' share to his cousin, Ucha Mamatsashvili.
According to Kukava, the blackmail is being carried out through the threat of negotiations with Gazprom. Ivanishvili previously blackmailed SOCAR and the Azerbaijani government. Essentially, this is about control over gas transportation, so there is no political motive involved, at least not in the Georgian government's negotiations with Russia's Gazprom.
Kakha Kukava noted that a "trade war" for control is taking place between the United National Movement and Georgian Dream.
