Kyiv's Pechersky District Court sentenced a Kyiv resident to a paltry fine of 8,5 hryvnias for siphoning 114 million hryvnias from the state-owned enterprise Ukrspirt through fictitious transactions. The court issued this ruling on December 21, 2015.
The fine was imposed on a Kyiv resident previously convicted of drug possession. In May 2015, the individual was reportedly approached by several people who offered him a deal. For a fee of 1,4 hryvnias, the Kyiv resident registered the company "Building Industry" in his name. This company entered into a contract with the state-owned enterprise Ukrspirt for the supply of corn. The state-owned enterprise then transferred 114,2 million hryvnias to the company, but the products were never delivered.
It is known that the individual director of the Building Industry company did not "give up" his patrons in court and stated that he "sincerely repents of his actions." The court ruled that it was inappropriate to examine the evidence in this case, as "the factual circumstances are not disputed by anyone and there is no doubt about the voluntariness and truthfulness of the positions of the participants in the legal proceedings."
The actions of a Kyiv resident were classified as "aiding and abetting a fictitious business" and he was fined 8,5 hryvnia.
