Kyiv City Council Secretary Volodymyr Prokopiv told Novoye Vremya that the city's leadership has no plans to renew its contracts with Kyivenergo. Furthermore, the city's heating networks are planned to be transferred to foreign investors for operation.
Prokopiv reported that the contract with Kyivenergo expires in 2017, and Kyiv authorities plan to first take over the heating networks for themselves, after which they will enter into an agreement with foreign investors.
According to the Kyiv City Council Secretary, they are not “getting any pleasure and are incurring losses” from their current cooperation with Kyivenergo.
As a reminder, Rinat Akhmetov's Kyivenergo has been operating the capital's heating grid for the past 10 years. Kyivenergo operates 188 boiler houses, Combined Heat and Power Plant No. 5, Combined Heat and Power Plant No. 6, 4 kilometers of pipelines, and the Energia waste incineration plant.
