Igor Demidov, deputy head of the Kyiv Prosecutor's Office's investigative department, failed to disclose his wife's actual income in his 2015 income declaration. This was revealed in an investigation by journalists from the program "Our money with Denis Bigus».
Journalists discovered that as early as 2010, Igor Demidov held the position of first deputy prosecutor of Kyiv's Pechersk district. At that time, his family had no vehicles, no real estate, and no bank accounts. However, earlier in 2006, the prosecutor's wife, Maria Demidova, purchased a plot of land and a 230-square-meter country house for 780 hryvnias.
In 2011, Demidov, now deputy head of the GPU department, filed an income tax return in which he listed his wife's country house, two apartments, three garages, and two Lexuses: a 2010 LEXUS LX 570 and a 2007 Toyota Lexus ES 350. At the time, the price of a new LEXUS LX 570 started at $110.
In 2013, Demidov declared his own income as 380 hryvnias and his wife's income as 13 hryvnias, as financial assistance. However, that same year, Maria Demidova purchased two plots of land, each measuring 12 hundred square meters, on the shore of the Desna Bay in the village of Novosilki. The price per hundred square meters at the time started at $5.5. Thus, at the current dollar exchange rate in 2013, the value of the plots was three times the Demidov family's total income for the year.
In November 2015, Maria Demidova purchased a new 2013 BMW X6. The price of the car was between $35 and $60 at the time of purchase. However, according to Demidov's 2015 income declaration, his wife's only income came from the sale of property, amounting to 149 hryvnias. Journalists noted that the prosecutor's wife likely sold one of her Lexuses to purchase the luxury BMW X6, as it was not included in the declaration.
