On January 18, 2015, Andrey Vavrysh, a representative of the Kyiv River Terminal management, announced that a decision had been made to increase the station building's area from 6 square meters to 11 square meters and transform it into a major tourist center.

Meanwhile, journalists from the "Schemes" program discovered in their investigation that permission for the restoration has not been granted, and most likely will not be, by the Department for the Protection of Cultural Heritage.

However, Andrey Vavrysh assured journalists that the restoration of the river terminal will be carried out in strict compliance with the laws governing the protection of historical monuments.

Journalists have discovered that, following the potential restoration of the Kyiv River Terminal, profits from the operation of the new tourist center will be generated by the businesses of Mikhail Brodsky and Nestor Shufrich.

According to the Smida agency, 24% of the shares of Kyiv River Port OJSC, which owns the station building, are owned by a Belize-based company, AEROTRADE SOLUTIONS INC. A representative of this offshore company, Andriy Savchuk, previously served as the CFO of the Zhydachiv Paper Mill Trading House. He was also listed as the CFO of the Osnova concern, which is owned by Mikhail Brodsky. This same individual ran for parliament in 2002 as a candidate for Brodsky's Yabloko party.

The director of Kyiv River Port OJSC is Sergei Boyko. He is also listed as the head of the public organization "Party of Free Democrats," which was founded by Brodsky.
