Ukrainian MP Serhiy Klyuyev offered $50 million to a member of parliament to prevent the Radical Party faction from supporting the removal of his parliamentary powers. Oleh Lyashko, the leader of the Radical Party, told reporters on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada.

Lyashko noted that the deputies had already reviewed the documents provided by Shokin, and his faction had decided to support the Prosecutor General's request. Oleh Lyashko emphasized that the remnants of Yanukovych's gang have no place in the Verkhovna Rada, and Mr. Klyuyev had already offered one Radical Party deputy $50 million for the entire faction to avoid participating in the vote to strip Klyuyev of his mandate.
Lyashko also expressed the opinion that the issue of stripping Klyuev of his parliamentary powers in the Verkhovna Rada could drag on, as the former Party of Regions member is haggling with other deputies: "This game of five days or 25 days—it's obviously a gamble to extract cash, and to ensure that Klyuev doesn't give me $50 million, but gives $500 million to the Prosecutor General, or somewhere else. Then they'll pretend there aren't enough votes, corporate solidarity, and so on. Just let them try not to vote."
As a reminder, on May 12, Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin submitted a motion to the Verkhovna Rada to lift the parliamentary immunity of Serhiy Klyuyev and former Aidar Battalion Commander Serhiy Melnychuk. The Prosecutor General's Office charges Klyuyev under Part 4 of Article 190, Part 5 of Article 191, and Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (large-scale fraud, embezzlement, misappropriation of property, and abuse of office).
