Kolomoisky continues to milk the state

April 19 marked exactly one month since the state-owned Naftogaz of Ukraine removed Kolomoisky's protégé Oleksandr Lazorko from his position as head of Ukrtransnafta. However, paradoxically, nothing has changed since then, and Kolomoisky continues to lead Ukrtransnafta, having only changed his pawns: instead of Oleksandr Lazorko, his longtime ally Natalia Parakhonyak now represents the interests of the Privat Group.

It's well known that a scandal erupted after Lazorko's dismissal. Kolomoisky, then the governor of Dnipropetrovsk, attacked journalist Serhiy Andrushko. Later, armed fighters from Kolomoisky's battalion and a protracted showdown at the highest levels emerged. Finally, Kolomoisky, under pressure from the president, resigned.

Melnyk, the legitimate head of Ukrtransnafta, appointed by Ukrtransnafta's supervisory board a month ago, never assumed his duties. He was replaced by the new acting head, Serhiy Sukalo. However, Sukalo also failed to assume his duties, despite refusing to resign under pressure from Prime Minister Yatsenyuk and the head of the Presidential Administration, Lozhkin.

The minutes of the March 19 supervisory board meeting regarding Sukalo's appointment were sent to Ukrtransnafta by registered mail three weeks ago. However, Kolomoisky's current management has deliberately avoided receiving them by mail, claiming they lack the relevant documentation.

At the same time, every day that Kolomoisky's people remain at the helm of Ukrtransnafta costs the state significant amounts of money. The current state of affairs means that Ukraine, as a state, pays Kolomoisky 75 million hryvnias monthly for storing industrial oil in the oligarch's company's tanks.

The budget of the state-owned enterprise Ukrtransnafta, under the line item "other material costs," includes a monthly excess of UAH 160 million over the cost of oil storage at Kolomoisky's facilities. However, these losses, already underfunded by the state, occur amid the government's ongoing attempts to cut social benefits for ordinary citizens.
