The accounts of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's companies were frozen at PrivatBank, which is owned by Ukrainian oligarch and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Governor Ihor Kolomoisky. This was done after the supervisory board of Ukrtransnafta removed Oleksandr Lazorko, a protégé of the Dnipropetrovsk governor, from his position as chairman of the state-owned company's board. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing a source in Ukraine's financial sector.
Following the well-known events of March 19 at the Ukrtransnafta office, orders were given to freeze the accounts of Poroshenko's companies at Privatbank. The accounts were unblocked some time later, citing a technical glitch. The time period for which the accounts were frozen is not specified.
According to some media outlets, the freezing of Poroshenko's accounts is due to the Dnipropetrovsk region governor's dissatisfaction with the Ukrtransnafta supervisory board's dismissal of Oleksandr Lazorko from his position as chairman of the board.
It is known that on the evening of March 19, Kolomoisky, accompanied by armed men, arrived at the Ukrtransnafta office to defend the interests of the ousted head of the company, Oleksandr Lazorko. He later left the building and, outside, made offensive remarks toward a journalist. At the request of lawmakers, President Poroshenko reprimanded the Dnipropetrovsk regional governor.
