Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Dmitry Shimkiv On his Facebook page, he wrote that the Presidential Administration had received a letter of complaint from a Dutch company, Gilward Investments BV, a co-owner of the defunct Ukrainian airline AeroSvit. According to Shymkiv, the letter does not contain any threats of legal action, but it does contain nine pages of claims and accusations from the company against the state.
AeroSvit, along with the bankrupt Donbassaero and Dniproavia, was part of the Ukrainian Aviation Group alliance, linked to the Ukrainian Privat Group. Dniproavia later left the alliance. In early 2013, it was reported that AeroSvit's largest shareholders were Gilward Investments BV and the State Property Fund of Ukraine, which held approximately 38% and 22,4% of the airline's shares, respectively. Three other Ukrainian companies held approximately 40% of the shares, including GenAviaInvest (24,99%), Investment Advisors Group (9,8%), and Byuro (4,8%).
The Dutch company Gilward Investments BV is associated with Ukrainian businessman Grigoriy Gurtov. In 2012, he ranked 170th in Focus magazine's "200 Richest People of Ukraine 2012" list, with a net worth of $42.4 million.
As a reminder, AeroSvit, Ukraine's largest air carrier, began bankruptcy proceedings in late December 2012. Initially, AeroSvit experienced problems with payments to airports and ticketing systems, leading to flight delays and cancellations. Subsequently, as revealed by court rulings, the company filed for bankruptcy, while emphasizing that it was not bankrupt, was continuing operations, and was fully implementing all operational procedures, including flight safety measures.
Mass layoffs later began among employees, who periodically held rallies demanding payment of unpaid wages. Furthermore, the court accepted an appeal by the Boryspil United State Tax Inspectorate in the Kyiv region to open bankruptcy proceedings against Aerosvit Airlines.
