Resano Trading LLC, a Burisma Group company, signed an agreement to acquire 70% of KUB-Gaz LLC from the Canadian company Serinus Energy Inc. This was reported by the Resano Trading LLC press service.
The Canadian company previously reported the sale for $30 million.
Burisma Group noted that this acquisition will increase hydrocarbon production in Ukraine. The group's independent director, Devon Archer, also stated that they will seek new investment projects to expand their operations.
It's worth noting that previously, 70% of KUB-Gaz was owned by Serinus Energy Inc., and the remaining 30% by the Canadian company Cub Energy Inc., associated with Yefim Zvyagilsky. Serinus Energy is owned by Jan Kulczyk, one of Poland's richest men. Drilling is primarily conducted in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, including using hydraulic fracturing technologies. It's important to note that operations were suspended in June 2014 due to military action, but resumed in October.
Burisma Holdings, Ukraine's largest private gas producer, is controlled by former Ecology Minister Mykola Zlochevsky. On April 14, 2018, US Vice President Joe Biden's youngest son, Hunter, joined the company's board of directors.
As a reminder, approximately a year ago, the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales closed the criminal case against Zlochevsky, unblocking it, although the search for him in Ukraine remains. The case concerns the former minister's illegal income.
