Some people's war is some people's mother: who is appropriating Defense Ministry land in the Odessa region?

The Southern Region Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine for Supervision of Law Enforcement in the Military Sphere has opened four criminal cases this year regarding the illegal seizure of land belonging to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to the press service, the military prosecutor's office of the Southern region of Ukraine is dealing with issues of compliance with legislation on the use of defense lands.

This year, four criminal cases were opened regarding the illegal seizure of land from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, including coastal land, with a total area of almost 100,000 hectares and a value of over UAH 241 million.

In particular, in order to return a 536-hectare land plot from the Tarutino military training ground to its legal user, the military prosecutor of the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky garrison filed a claim with the Commercial Court to invalidate the lease agreement and return the said land plot to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

In September 2014, the Odessa Regional Commercial Court upheld the military prosecutor's claim. The land lease agreement was declared invalid, and the companies were required to return the land, valued at UAH 9,9 million, to the state, represented by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
