Kononenko: Nalyvaichenko's accusations are election PR

NamelessIhor Kononenko, deputy chairman of the BPP faction, considers the accusations against him by former SBU head Nalyvaichenko to be campaign PR. He stated this during a meeting of the Anti-Corruption Committee on October 15, 2015, according to RBC.

Kononenko noted that the documents provided by Valentin Nalyvaichenko provide no grounds for opening a criminal case against him. This PR stunt is nothing more than an election campaign.

As a reminder, the former head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) released documents revealing that Intraco Management Ltd, a company close to Igor Kononenko, launders money and funnels between $100 and $300 per month out of Ukraine. Kononenko categorically denies these accusations.

In turn, Kononenko's colleague in the BPP faction, Volodymyr Ariev, accused Valentyn Nalyvaichenko of covering up schemes to illegally funnel vast sums of money abroad through Ihor Kolomoisky's PrivatBank. Ariev also voiced this information at a meeting of the Anti-Corruption Committee on October 15, 2015.

The MP clarified that the Privat Group's transfer of billions of dollars abroad occurred precisely when Nalyvaichenko was in charge of the SBU. Such actions could have led to major problems for the entire Ukrainian banking system. Ariev asked Yegor Sobolev, chairman of the parliamentary anti-corruption committee, to hold a closed committee meeting on this matter.
