Following a tender, the Northern Energy System of the state-owned enterprise NEC Ukrenergo signed an agreement with Energy Engineering LLC for the reconstruction of the Poltava substation. The contract amounted to UAH 9,91 million, according to the publication Nashi Groshi.
The work must be completed by the end of the year. Specifically, the circuit breaker and three current transformers must be replaced with gas-insulated ones. It's important to note that the tender price in June was almost half that amount—5,39 million hryvnias.
The company that received the contract, Energy Engineering, was founded in 2006 in Luhansk and was then known as Leo GP. Its founders were Yuriy Bondarenko and Eduard Paskevich from Kremenchuk. However, in 2007, the company's main assets were acquired by Energy Standard Ukraine Group LLC, which is associated with Russian businessman Konstantin Grigorishin. In 2012, the company was re-registered to Setempio Holdings Limited (Cyprus).
Interestingly, Ukrenergo also includes many of Grigorishin's people. For example, the Procurement and Contracting Department is headed by Igor Vynnikov, previously the director of Energy Engineering, while Vyacheslav Bind has become the head of the Northern Energy System. Yuriy Kasich, who initiated the procurement of UAH 2 billion worth of transformers from PJSC Zaporizhtransformator, also owned by Grigorishin, has also joined the management team.
