Seventy-two percent of the shares of Trust Bank were acquired by an individual who had not previously been a shareholder of the bank.
These shares were sold by other shareholders, who owned 44% and 28% of the financial institution's authorized capital. It is important to note that Trust Bank was previously owned by Russian citizens Ilya Yurov (44%), Nikolai Fetisov, and Sergey Belyaev (28% each).
It hasn't yet been announced who exactly acquired the shares, but there are reports that Volodymyr Avramenko, owner of the Ukrainian confectionery company AVK, planned to acquire all of the bank's shares this summer, and the NBU approved the deal. It's also unclear which of the individual shareholders—Fetisov or Belyaev—is holding on to their shares.
It's also worth noting that, out of 127 operating banks, Trust ranked 90th as of July 1. Its authorized capital amounted to nearly $563,5 million.
