It's no wonder Ukraine occupies a leading position in the world when it comes to nepotism. Unlike leading European countries, the "godfather-in-law-brother" principle operates flawlessly in almost every sphere of life.
Politics and show business were no exception. As is often the case, these two spheres, despite their considerable distance, can instantly merge if strong nepotistic ties are established. Moreover, in practice, it has proven that such a precarious alliance can yield extremely valuable results in any other influential field, such as judicial decision-making.
This is what happened in the case of the country's famous godfathers, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko himself (read more: Petro Poroshenko: biography and the whole truth about the "chocolate king" of Ukraine ) and the People's Artist, and now also a People's Deputy from the "BPP", Oksana Bilozir.
At first, Ukrainians witnessed the singer's sweet, obliging antics: Marina Poroshenko unexpectedly appears in her video with her children https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=1c-Ljptj8iU , then she, in her capacity as the former Minister of Culture, praises Petro Oleksiyovych as president.
"I've been in politics since 2000. I saw that there was a ready-made candidate who could take this country on her shoulders. She knows it from the inside, understands all the mechanisms of government institutions, and has a network that includes key managers from the outside world. He knows how the economy works because he's a successful businessman himself," Bilozir told reporters, not shying away from her open interest.
And all would have been well, but soon the singer's true "good intentions" became apparent. Unexpectedly, she simultaneously encroached on the livelihoods of three of the Guarantor's main unofficial representatives in the judicial system.
As is well known, the role of "fixer" in the courts on behalf of the president has long been occupied by the "gray cardinal" Igor Kononenko (Read more: Igor Kononenko. The President's Army Friend ), his loyal accomplice Alexander Granovsky, and, of course, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration Alexei Filatov.
Nevertheless, Bilozir independently decided that a place in this market was still worth fighting for and actively began collecting all sorts of commercial litigation and other matters, assuming the role of a kind of magic wand, supposedly in the hands of Pyotr Alekseevich himself.
Stanislavsky would undoubtedly have said, "I don't believe it." And so the judges and prosecutors didn't believe it either.
A Ukrainian entrepreneur in the construction industry spoke anonymously about Oksana Bilozir's unsuccessful attempts to organize a "business" in the courts.
"The President's godmother, you could say, cut my business profits almost in half," he recalls. "Her services as a first-class 'fixer' were advertised to me by a colleague, who later turned out to be an ill-wisher."
According to the businessman, Oksana Bilozir gave him a 100% guarantee that the court would side with him and make the "right" decision.
"In the end, we lost the case, leaving us with nothing. I don't even want to say how much we got thanks to her beautiful rhetoric. We're lucky we even survived," the victim says. "Of course, it's unpleasant to realize that she so brazenly defrauded me with her crony connections."
Besides business representatives, the courts have also heard about Oksana Bilozir.
In particular, in his video address https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-J2I3nT5g4 , the former head of the Kyiv Court of Appeal, Anton Chernushenko, openly described how it was not the presidential intermediary Filatov who approached him directly several times for a "solution" to the issue, but the President's godmother, Oksana Bilozir.
According to the former judge, Poroshenko's godmother demanded that he make a decision that was illegal.
It's clear that Oksana Bilozir, who decided to cash in on her godfather's name, is, to put it mildly, completely unconcerned about justice and the rule of law. However, the same can be said of the judicial system: those serving the courts are just as uninterested in cooperating with Bilozir as she is in upholding the rule of law.
And all because the judges know very well who is really “solving” the problems from the President, and who is simply taking up amateur work.
A current Kyiv judge spoke about how Oksana Bilozir is desperately trying to compete with Kononenko and Granovsky in the arena of making fateful court decisions.
"Everyone knows perfectly well who the judges receive the President's orders from in the vertical chain of command. But when Bilozir comes and says she's from Poroshenko, it's simply ridiculous. Only a madman could believe her fantasies," the judge says. "She's not part of that vertical chain of command. When we met, Bilozir claimed to have discussed an issue with the President. I know they're relatives; they probably meet and discuss things. But Poroshenko certainly didn't grant her the authority to issue orders to judges on his behalf."
However, the obviousness of Bilozir's deception doesn't stop her. She continues to ingratiate herself with those interested in the "correct" decision. First, she takes a substantial sum for this, and then, once again, is refused any assistance by the judge, the prosecutor, and the investigator.
It's clear that the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction has accumulated so many experts in "solving" these issues that Oksana Bilozir, inspired by the success of Kononenko and Granovsky's "business," wanted to earn some extra cash. While she may not be able to "solve" anything, at least she has a steady income.
One can only imagine what will happen to the already battered Ukrainian judicial system if every one of Petro Poroshenko's many relatives, like Oksana Bilozir, begins trying to "resolve" issues on his behalf. Such a heightened concentration of "fixers" would likely surprise even the President himself.
