In April 2016, President Petro Poroshenko's Lipetsk confectionery factory Roshen paid a fine of approximately $9 million to the Russian Federation budget, TASS reported, citing the Russian Federal Tax Service in the Lipetsk region.
It is known that, as of April 1, 2016, Poroshenko's factory still owes the Russian state budget approximately 779 million rubles, which at the current exchange rate amounts to more than $11 million.
As a reminder, Roshen's tax arrears in the Lipetsk region were discovered during a company audit. The Russian Federal Tax Service in the Lipetsk region reports that Petro Poroshenko's factory is attempting to challenge the additional tax assessments in court.
Previously, the Russian Investigative Committee opened criminal proceedings against the Lipetsk Roshen factory for tax evasion and large-scale fraud.
