The fact that Klitschko's UDAR will eventually cease to be an independent political brand became known from Yuriy Lutsenko's interview with Vesti Radio.
According to BPP-Solidarity leader Lutsenko, UDAR is a fraternal party for the BPP, and in addition, representatives of the political forces are part of a common faction in Parliament.
Preliminary negotiations with Vitali Klitschko have already taken place; the final decision will be made at the upcoming congress:
"...we are indeed planning to hold a congress after Independence Day, which will make a final decision on the unification of the parties and our efforts in the elections both in Kyiv and throughout Ukraine," Lutsenko said.
The BPP leader also added that after completing all legal procedures, the new political force could be renamed. However, it's important to note that "for now, the Kyiv mayor will be nominated by BPP-Solidarity, and throughout Ukraine, UDAR candidates will run under this platform. Ultimately, this will culminate in a merger of the parties, creating a single faction, as is happening in the Verkhovna Rada."
Lutsenko noted that many other parties have also offered to cooperate, including Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk's People's Front, the Agrarian Party, the People's Movement, and others. However, all these proposals are still in the negotiation stage:
"Preserving the coalition is paramount for us, so negotiations are ongoing. But we're determining locally how much the People's Front will contribute in any given region. There will be no joint quota for the People's Front. If they have the best mayoral candidates, we will certainly support them. I don't foresee any significant common quota for other parties at this time."
