Paul Manafort, the campaign manager for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, was featured in the Party of Regions' "black ledger" while serving as an adviser to former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. An investigation initiated by Viktor Trepak, conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), uncovered his details in documents related to the receipt of a large sum: "According to the lists, a total of over $12,7 million was allocated for expenses related to this individual beginning November 20, 2007."
However, NABU is not certain that the defendant received these funds:
"We emphasize that the presence of Manafort's name on the lists does not mean he actually received these funds, as the recipients' names appear to be those of other individuals. The pre-trial investigation in this case is ongoing." Anti-Corruption Bureau officials merely noted that Manafort is mentioned 22 times in the "black book."
