Journalists from "Schemes" discovered that Nila Boyarkina (the mother of the head of the State Geology and Subsoil Use Agency) purchased a 110-square-meter apartment at the beginning of the year in a building where realtors value similar properties at 5 million hryvnias. In addition to the apartment in the elite Crystal Park residential cooperative (Peremohy Avenue, Kyiv), two parking spaces were also purchased. In a telephone interview, the official's relative stated:
“I borrowed the money for 10 years, and it’s all official for me,” but she didn’t disclose any sources of income from which she plans to repay the amount.
All that meticulous journalists could uncover was evidence that Boyarkina owns a brokerage company providing trade services, with a registered capital of 1000 hryvnias. They also noted that the apartment owner had been looking for work several years ago. Nikolai Boyarkin himself has not commented on the situation.
