The Megapolis-Ukraine company forgot to pay approximately 2,3 billion in taxes to the Ukrainian budget.
However, this fact is the least of the company's concerns, notes a correspondent for the First Truth & Transparency Committee. MU considers the upcoming market redistribution to be the main problem, which will allegedly hit ordinary people first... that is, smokers. According to the press service of Megapolis-Ukraine, it is smokers who will suffer from unfair competition. MU has not yet specified how exactly.
The press service of "MU" openly announced a targeted campaign aimed at destabilizing the operations of the Megapolis-Ukraine Trading Company in order to reshape the Ukrainian tobacco market. The company's press service dismissed the information published by several national media outlets ("Tobacco monopolists from Megapolis forgot to pay taxes on 2,3 billion – State Fiscal Service"), published on April 20 of this year, as unreliable, and the data presented as factual manipulation.
According to the press service of the Megapolis-Ukraine Trading Company, "The information about Megapolis-Ukraine's tax evasion is untrue. Megapolis-Ukraine Trading Company is one of the largest distribution companies in Ukraine, strictly adheres to current legislation in its operations, and is one of the country's largest taxpayers. In 2014, the company transferred UAH 830 million to budgets at various levels, and UAH 1,5 billion in 2015."
According to our information, the State Fiscal Service Office in Ternopil Oblast is currently conducting a pre-trial investigation into the alleged fictitious business activities of 16 legal entities in 2014-2015. These legal entities are (or were at that time) counterparties of Megapolis-Ukraine, with whom the company has concluded relevant agreements. According to the terms of these agreements, Megapolis-Ukraine carried out genuine business transactions, as confirmed by relevant documents (contracts, invoices, powers of attorney, reconciliation reports, etc.), which, in turn, officials of these legal entities are willing to confirm. All business transactions conducted with these counterparties were genuine and carried out within the framework of current legislation. During the aforementioned pre-trial investigation, the Megapolis-Ukraine Trading Company provided the State Fiscal Service Office in Ternopil Oblast with all the requested documents and necessary explanations.
"We would like to emphasize once again that there are no criminal cases against the company. Criminal cases have been opened against representatives of Megapolis-Ukraine, and nothing more," the statement reads. "The Megapolis-Ukraine trading company cooperates with over 30 counterparties in Ukraine as part of its activities. All of them are genuine business entities, as confirmed by the relevant documents. Upon signing the contract, each counterparty provides us with all necessary registration documents, as well as permits for the sale of tobacco products. Furthermore, Megapolis-Ukraine conducts additional verification to ensure that the counterparties actually have actual retail locations and storage facilities for tobacco products."
"We would also like to add that Megapolis-Ukraine has repeatedly denied any ties to various political figures," the press service emphasized. "The company's owners are citizens of Ukraine, Ireland, and the United Kingdom."
We believe that this type of media publication of false information about the company is part of a targeted campaign aimed at destabilizing the operations of the Megapolis-Ukraine Trading Company with the aim of redistributing the Ukrainian tobacco market."
