On April 14, 2016, SBU officers, together with their colleagues from the prosecutor's office, arrested Vyshgorod Mayor Oleksandr Momot for accepting a €1 million bribe. This was reported by the SBU press service.
Momot reportedly promised a construction company €1 million not to terminate its land lease for development. Furthermore, the mayor of Vyshgorod promised to provide every possible assistance to the developer in developing the neighborhood.
It is known that Momot had intermediaries, whom SBU officers and prosecutors detained in central Kyiv while transferring the first installment of the 200 euro illegal profit.
Another of Momot's accomplices was detained while receiving property rights to real estate worth over €700.
Mr. Momota was detained by SBU officers at his workplace in his office.
