The Metinvest Group of Companies, which is part of Rinat Akhmetov's SCM Group, intends to acquire the Dneprodzerzhinsk Coke and Chemical Plant, controlled by the Russian Evraz Group.
According to Metinvest Group CEO Yuriy Ryzhenkov, the company is interested in acquiring the enterprise, and has already approached the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and Serbia regarding this matter. However, no response has yet been received.
Ryzhenkov stated that Metinvest enterprises were experiencing problems with coke supplies due to the events in eastern Ukraine, as plants in Avdiivka, Yenakiyeve, and Donetsk were located in occupied territories. Currently, coke can also be delivered from China and Russia.
"Considering that the Dnipro Coke Plant produces products that Evraz itself doesn't need, we are now purchasing almost all of its output for Metinvest," stated CEO Yuriy Ryzhenkov. He added that the purchase volume exceeds 400 tons.
