Kyiv's Ministry of Internal Affairs officers have busted an illegal poker club. The gambling establishment was located in an upscale apartment in central Kyiv, according to the publication "Elita Strany."

According to police, the gambling establishment's owners failed to destroy the lists of its players. The data of regular customers fell into the hands of law enforcement.

Sources in the Kyiv Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that many prominent politicians and officials are among the poker club's players. The name of investment banker Volodymyr Demchyshyn appears in the documents. People familiar with the capital's underground gambling scene confirmed that Volodymyr Demchyshyn, the current Minister of Energy and Coal Industry, is indeed an avid gambler. His poker "colleagues" also reported that Demchyshyn plays for high stakes, but is consistently unlucky and loses huge sums.

According to sources in the gambling industry, the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry owes the club several million hryvnias. This is confirmed by the illegal gambling club's "black ledger." Demchyshyn promised to repay the debts shortly before the club's closure.

According to some sources, the disappearance of over 240 million hryvnias from Kyivska Rus Bank is linked to the repayment of a debt to a gambling establishment. The funds were transferred to the bank to pay wages to energy workers and miners. However, after receiving this enormous sum, the bank stopped processing payments. A few days later, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) appointed a temporary administration to Kyivska Rus. Economists believe the funds were simply siphoned off, and the bank was declared bankrupt.
