Deputy Minister of Justice Natalia Sevostyanova is vying to replace the dismissed head of the Prosecutor General's Office, Viktor Shokin.
The piquancy of the situation lies in the fact that Sevostyanova is implicated in the "lustration" scandal. Journalist and MP Mustafa Nayyem reported on this candidacy. It is also reported that Andriy Parubiy will become speaker, and Volodymyr Groysman will become prime minister.
Regarding the scandal, we're talking about a "lustration indulgence" granted to Anna Ignatenko, head of the Main Directorate of the State Fiscal Service in Kyiv. It was Sevostyanova who issued it.
It's worth noting that 289 deputies voted for Shokin's resignation, and the hearing itself was conducted in his absence—a request the former Prosecutor General made at his own request. He intends to retire after his resignation.
