Yatsenyuk's advisor Malin wants to appoint his own man as head of Ukrposhta.

raspberries

Arseniy Yatsenyuk's advisor, Oleksandr Malin, still hasn't given up on pushing his man into the position of CEO of Ukrposhta, and is proposing the candidacy of an "unknown" person in order to preserve corruption schemes.

Notorious corrupt official Oleksandr Lvovich Malin, who until recently served as the First Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, was included on the list of senior executive officials subject to dismissal under the Law of Ukraine "On the Purification of Government" (lustration). However, Malin managed to avoid lustration by submitting a letter of resignation in October—before the law came into effect.

As is known, Oleksandr Malin held the positions of head of the Odesa City Council's trade department and also worked in the tax office. Under Governor Eduard Matviychuk, he served as vice governor of the Odesa region.

The internet reveals astronomical sums of kickbacks and bribes accepted by Vice Governor Malin, his various deals, his large and luxurious fleet of cars, his vast plots of land, and his expensive real estate. Media reports also indicate that Malin has been a member of the "Front of Change" since 2009, a personal friend of Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, and one of his current advisers.

This friendship helped Malin take over the post of head of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) in March 2014. In June 2014, he became First Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and immediately began protecting Ukrposhta and planting his own people there. Two days after his appointment, Malin pushed his friend, Odesa Regional Council member Volodymyr Gurkov, into the position of director of Ukrposhta's Kyiv directorate. It was thanks to Malin that a gang of corrupt officials operated at Ukrposhta for a considerable time, led by acting director Pankiv and including his deputies Stasiv, Veselyi, and Gurtovoy. Volodymyr Gurkov was one of the instigators and organizers of the corrupt schemes. After Malin's dismissal as First Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, the gang of corrupt officials from Ukrposhta, without his patronage, was unable to remain at the state-owned enterprise for long, and today almost all of them have been dismissed.

Malin, however, attempted to regain lost control of the company, carry out a quick reshuffle, and replace the odious Pankiv with Gurkov. However, this plan was thwarted by Gurkov's extensive corruption record, which only led to his appointment as head of Ukrposhta's Odesa directorate.

However, Malin still hasn't given up on pushing his man into the position of Ukrposhta's CEO. To this end, Malin's advisor recommends a candidate "whom no one knows, yet who is untainted by corruption." Although this seems comical—how can one be Malin's man and not be tainted by corruption? And why, after all, would the seasoned corrupt official Malin promote an unknown figure from the street to head a large and complex state-owned enterprise? To improve its technological processes or to preserve the corrupt schemes of his already dismissed protégés? Figure it out for yourself.
