The owner of a coffee business and former partner of Igor Kononenko is being considered for the position of Ukrnafta's new CEO. This person is Serhiy Koretsky.
What can be said with certainty about Koretsky is that he is certainly not an oil production specialist, but he does have successful experience running a company – to some extent a competitor to Ukrnafta, writes ZN.
Ukrnafta, which was forcibly transferred to state ownership, may be headed by the former CEO of the WOG gas station chain, Sergei Koretsky. This was reported by a source to the agency.RBC-Ukraine».
A source familiar with the market situation says a decision on Koretsky's appointment could be made in the near future.
It should be noted that PJSC Ukrnafta is Ukraine's largest oil producing company. The company's share of Ukraine's total oil and gas condensate production in 2021 was 62,7%, and its share of total gas production was 5,8%.
Koretsky is certainly not an oil extraction specialist. However, he does have successful experience as the CEO of the WOG gas station chain.
PJSC Ukrnafta also owns One of the largest gas station networks in Ukraine, the company operates 537 gas stations in most regions of the country. However, this is by no means the company's primary focus.
In addition, during the time when Koretsky led WOG, he didn't hide partnership with a close associate of President Petro Poroshenko Igor Kononenko.
Sergey Koretsky. What is known?
Koretsky, a student at Lutsk State Technical University, began working part-time in his first year.
After graduating from university, Koretsky joined the Continuum Group of Companies as a student in 1997 as a member of the analytics department. Ten years later, he became the company's CEO.
From 2013 to October 2018, Koretsky served as CEO of the WOG gas station chain.
It was in this role that he truly blossomed as CEO. Specifically, starting in 2013, he rapidly developed the WOG gas station chain. During this time, the company transformed from an oil trader into a retailer and expanded beyond gas stations, opening a chain-style WOG CAFÉ. WOG also launched WOG CAFÉ on Intercity trains and at Kyiv Airport (Zhuliany).
By improving its loyalty program, WOG has increased the number of individual customers. Under Koretsky, WOG was the first to launch a mobile app, considered the best among fuel companies, as well as contactless payment options at WOG gas stations and WOG CAFEs.
In October 2018, Koretsky unexpectedly announced he was leaving his position to pursue his own projects. He then went on to launch his own business, creating a café under the Idealist Coffee brand.
Mykhailo Romaniv was appointed acting CEO of WOG in place of Koretsky. Ukrnafta was headed by Oleh Gez before its "nationalization."
Let us recall that on November 7, it became known about the “nationalization” of strategic enterprises associated with businessmen Konstantin Zhevago, Igor Kolomoisky, Vyacheslav Boguslayev и Konstantin Grigorishin.
And on November 8, it became known that a partner could be appointed to the supervisory board of Ukrnafta Andrey Yermak and the deputy minister, who was searched by NABU detectives.
