As reported by Oleksiy Gritsenko on uainfo.org , a delegation of media representatives, Kyiv City Council representatives, and the public visited the Kyiv Electric Transport Plant (KZET) at the initiative of public organizations. The visit was organized due to suspicions that the company's management had embezzled and misused public funds during repairs.

Nikolai Nechiporenko, Director of ZAO KZET, and Serhiy Maizel, Director of Kyivpastrans, explained that imported railcars are purchased in Prague for 170 UAH. What's more, repairs cost five times more—another 800 UAH. They further discovered that funds received from scrap metal sales—4 UAH per railcar, according to the director—were somehow not included in the repair estimate. Administrative and distribution costs, which totaled 160 UAH, are also included. However, distribution costs cannot be included in the cost list, as the repairs are being carried out under a government contract.

In other words, this visit left more questions than before. The director of KZET CJSC was unable to explain why contractors' services for repairing one railcar cost 100 hryvnias.
