NABU receives scandalous case from Lutsenko

24-549a9c5d0eef7.Pinchuk_zashtitil_Kuchmu_ot_shantazha_KolomojskogoThe news that the Prosecutor General of Ukraine (Yuriy Lutsenko) has handed over all documents and investigation rights to representatives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau in a criminal case involving major figures in the Ukrainian political system came as somewhat of a surprise. Former President Leonid Kuchma and a pair of established oligarchs—his son-in-law Viktor Pinchuk and billionaire Ihor Kolomoisky—have already been named among the defendants.

The essence of the case, why and for what purpose the National Anti-Corruption Bureau requested it, and the capacity of the aforementioned individuals are unknown. However, the very fact of the transfer suggests that a major fraud of national significance has been uncovered, and Mr. Lutsenko's remark that there are currently no untouchable individuals in Ukraine further heightens the intrigue. This information was aired on the talk show "Right to Power" on the 1+1 television channel.
