NABU Head Artem Sytnyk (Read more: ARTEM SYTNIK. THE RICH LIFE OF THE CHIEF ANTI-CORRUPTIONIST) stated at a briefing that a number of minor violations related to Sergei Leshchenko's real estate purchases were uncovered as a result of an investigation. Specifically, there are "indications that MP Leshchenko benefited from an unprecedented loan, which is not generally available in Ukraine."

Sytnyk noted that an ordinary citizen cannot obtain an interest-free 10-year loan to purchase an apartment, such as the one Mr. Leshchenko received from Olena Prytula, director of Ukrayinska Pravda. According to Sytnyk, the estimated benefit for the MP is 188 hryvnias this year and an additional 565 hryvnias in each subsequent year, assuming the interest rate remains at 15%, the lowest in Ukraine.

Furthermore, according to Sytnyk, Leshchenko failed to include his mother, who lived at the same address as him at the time and managed several deposit accounts, in his 2014-2015 income declaration. Therefore, the MP was obliged to include the deposits credited to her name in his financial statements.

By his actions, Leshchenko violated the requirements of Article 172 “violation of financial control requirements.”

Let us recall that the investigation into the legality of the acquisition of real estate for 7,5 million UAH by MP Leshchenko was initiated by the head of the SAP Nazar Kholodnytskyi (Read moreNazar Kholodnitsky. In charge of corruption or in charge of fighting it?).
