According to the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office press service, Major General Danylo Romanenko of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, head of the Ivan Bohun Kyiv Military Lyceum, was sentenced to three years in prison for accepting a bribe of $5,000. The Kyivo-Svyatoshinsky District Court of the Kyiv Region issued this ruling.
The Kyiv prosecutor's office requested a three-year prison sentence for him. The court found him guilty under Part 2 of Article 368 (receiving an unlawful benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, thereby upholding the prosecutor's motion.
Romanenko was also disqualified from holding positions related to organizational and administrative functions for a period of 2 years.
As a reminder, the head of the lyceum, Major General Daniil Vladimirovich Romanenko, was detained by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) last July while accepting a bribe from a large family for their son's admission to the lyceum. The SBU conducted a special operation to detain the general at the Bogun Military Lyceum's suburban branch in Boyarka.
