The National Television Council will conduct an unscheduled inspection of the NewsOne television channel due to political advertising.

Evgeniy Muraev2_500x329The National Television and Radio Council has decided to conduct an unscheduled inspection of the NewsOne television channel. This decision was made due to the media outlet's broadcast of advertisements for a political party, TSN reported, citing the National Television Council.

According to representatives of the National Council, the political party's advertising violates current legislation. It is reported that between August 5 and 11, 2016, an advertisement for the "For Life" party was broadcast on the NewsOne television channel. The total length of the advertisement was 36 minutes and 42 seconds. The violation was caused by the fact that during the period the political party's advertisement was aired, the video contained the words "political advertising." The National Council on Television noted that "election campaigning outside the electoral process is prohibited," as stipulated in Part 2 of Article 54 of the Law of Ukraine "On Local Elections" and Parts 1 and 2 of Article 70 of the Law of Ukraine "On Elections of People's Deputies of Ukraine."

National Council Chairman Yuriy Artemenko stated that any decision regarding the NewsOne television channel will be made only after an audit of the media resource.

Let us remind you that the NewsOne channel belongs to MP Yevgeny Murayev (Read more: Yevgeny Murayev: a new candidate from the old Kharkiv clan).
