Ukraine's Prosecutor General, Vitaliy Yarema, is being asked to dismiss Kyiv Prosecutor Serhiy Yuldashev. According to Facenews, citing the petitioners, cases of pressure on businesses by the prosecutor's office have increased significantly over the past three months since Yuldashev's appointment.
"This never happened even under Yanukovych. It's as if the Kyiv Prosecutor's Office has been appointed 'chief business officer,'" say outraged entrepreneurs. "We ask Vitaliy Yarema, who proclaims transparency and a desire to reform the Prosecutor's Office, to investigate why Kyiv Prosecutor Yuldashev is behaving this way. Is this his personal initiative, or are these tasks being assigned to him from above?"
In their appeal, the entrepreneurs also point out that upon transferring to Kyiv, Sergei Yuldashev took over a team of employees from the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Prosecutor's Office, who had previously been required to submit resignation letters specifically for pressuring businesses. These individuals now serve on the leadership team of the Kyiv Prosecutor's Office.
As Prokurorska Pravda previously reported, Serhiy Yuldashev was appointed Kyiv prosecutor by Vitaliy Yarema on June 25 and has a controversial reputation. Meanwhile, in recent months, raids by Kyiv prosecutors on a number of municipal enterprises have become more frequent.
