As it became known yesterday, Ihor Mosiychuk, a member of parliament and a member of Oleh Lyashko's Radical Party, was arrested right in the Verkhovna Rada building after a faction meeting.
262 MPs supported this motion by Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin. The Prosecutor General's Office has video footage of the radical Mosiychuk promising some kind of "cover" to his interlocutor for $10-$15. Furthermore, the same footage captured the MP accepting several stacks of cash.
The parliamentarian himself denies receiving any bribe and denies the authenticity of the video.
The radical is suspected of committing crimes under five articles of the Criminal Code: Part 4 of Article 368 (acceptance of an offer, promise, or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official), Parts 2 and 3 of Article 296 (hooliganism), Parts 1 and 2 of Article 350 (threat or violence against an official or a citizen performing a public duty), Part 1 of Article 376 (interference with the activities of judicial bodies), Parts 1 and 2 of Article 377 (threat or violence against a judge, assessor, or juror).
According to Mosiychuk's fellow party member, MP Andriy Lozovoy, "Ihor Mosiychuk's interrogation never took place... He was held at the Prosecutor General's Office on Reznitskaya Street and served with a notice of suspicion. He is currently being held at Askold's Grave, in the SBU pretrial detention facility, and it's clear he'll remain there until at least the morning."
Today, September 18, a court hearing will be held to determine Mosiychuk's pretrial detention measure.
On the morning of September 18, Oleg Lyashko announced that the court hearing, scheduled for 9:00 a.m., had been postponed indefinitely.
“I understand that they are encrypted, deliberately postponing the meeting in order to conduct it in secret and make it impossible for public scrutiny,” said the leader of the radicals.
