MP Oleksandr Drozdik, a member of the People's Front parliamentary faction, filed a complaint with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) against Odesa Oblast Governor Mikheil Saakashvili. Drozdik wrote this on Facebook.
The parliamentarian demands that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) investigate the corrupt activities of Saakashvili's entourage. Drozdik wrote that officials from the Odesa Regional State Administration continue to "misappropriate public funds using the same old corrupt scheme."
Specifically, the MP reported that Saakashvili's team representative, Tatyana Marchenko, signed a lease agreement for the Administrative Services Center at $100 per square meter. The MP clarified that the average rental price for similar space in Odesa is approximately 135 hryvnias per square meter.
Drozdik noted that the regional state administration could have avoided spending public funds on leasing the premises altogether, as the Odesa Regional State Administration already had a renovated (at a cost of 40 million hryvnias) but not yet operational Administrative Services Center at the time Tetyana Marchenko signed the lease agreement. This center is located in a municipally owned building. Ms. Marchenko, in turn, decided to give the landlord 15 million hryvnias of budget funds.
Drozdik wrote that these budget funds could be distributed and used to repair rural roads in the Odesa region, which are in extremely poor condition. The MP expressed hope that NABU investigators will "appreciate the transparency" and "effectiveness" of Saakashvili's team.
