The NBU is liquidating another bank.

bankThe National Bank of Ukraine decided to revoke the license of Veles Bank and subsequently liquidate it.
The decision was made on December 10 due to the bank's "risky activities" and systematic violations of financial monitoring laws. Specifically, in September, the NBU prevented the transfer of approximately $460 million abroad. According to the state regulator, this served as the basis for the inspection, which uncovered the bank's aforementioned risky activities and violations of several laws.
It was reported that approximately 90% of the bank's transactions were either risky, illegal, or aimed at siphoning money out of the country. A number of transactions also involved forged documents. Overall, the fraud amounted to approximately $100 million.
The NBU believes that the liquidation of Veles will not impact the country's financial system due to its insignificant assets. As of the end of the third quarter, they amounted to just over 312 million hryvnias, ranking it 105th out of 123 banks. Its clients included only 150 individuals.
