The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has begun liquidation proceedings against Delta Bank.

Delta BankOn October 2, 2015, the NBU supported the Deposit Guarantee Fund's proposal to revoke Delta Bank's license and liquidate it, according to the regulator's press service.

Delta Bank was declared problematic on March 2, 2015, and a temporary administration was appointed. However, after assessing the quality of the financial institution's assets, the Deposit Guarantee Fund and the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) decided that recapitalization by the state was not feasible.

As a reminder, over the past 21 months, the NBU has liquidated 58 Ukrainian financial institutions. As of October 5, 2015, 122 banks remain operational in Ukraine.

Delta Bank's largest shareholders are Nikolai Lagun and the US company Cargill Financial Services International Inc. The financial institution was among the top five largest banks in Ukraine.
