UNDER-LUSTRATION. A new official at the Ministry of Infrastructure has taken over the Yanukovych-era corruption schemes.

Despite numerous inspections of the aforementioned state-owned enterprises, the initiation of dozens of criminal cases, and open letters from enterprise staff addressed to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko requesting that Pinkas be dismissed from his position as deputy minister, Pinkas remains unpunished.

Pinkas took control of the company "Sea Trident," which was under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Infrastructure and which had transferred 128 merchant vessels (state property) to offshore companies. According to Act No. 100t (classified), audits of the financial and economic activities of these companies revealed losses to the state totaling UAH 3.25 billion.
The new corrupt official plans to control the financial flows of several other state-owned enterprises within the ministry's structure. These include Boryspil Airport and the Ivano-Frankivsk Locomotive Repair Plant.

Pinkas
Following the release of incriminating media reports, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk harshly criticized Pinkas's "activities." Documents were prepared and signed to remove Pinkas from his position, and an audit of the financial and economic activities of all the aforementioned state-owned enterprises was initiated.
But Pinkas held on to his post. And he's preparing to take over as First Deputy Minister, replacing Alexander Malin, who was fired following the adoption of the lustration law.
